
Sauerkraut
1 qt. canned sauerkraut
1 large onion, chopped
3 Tbsp butter
1/2 cup sour cream
1 Tbsp brown sugar
Drain the sauerkraut in a colander and rinse with cold water. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Add the onions and sauté until beginning to turn clear. Turn the heat down to low and add the sauerkraut. Stir until thoroughly blended with the onions. Add the sour cream and the brown sugar stir until blended. Simmer for 5 minutes and serve with grilled sausage.
Our comments: I have converted many a sauerkraut hater with this recipe. If you already like sauerkraut, you will love this. Serve it with your favorite sausage. We like our sausage grilled. Well, that's the sales pitch. Allyson gags whenever I make it and is offended that I insisted on including this recipe.
